Flax is a great option to add into your crop rotation. Flax can be used as a cover crop mixture component to help make
silica available in the soils. Flax is also grown for the fiber and grain markets.
Flax prefers to be grown in alluvial, deep loams containing lots of organic matter. Avoid heavy clay, and sandy soils.
Flax that is harvested for fiber production can take place after about 100 days, or a month after the plants flower and two weeks after the seed capsules form. Allow plant to turn brown for best fiber quality.
