Pearl

Pearl Forage Sorghum

Pearl forage sorghum is high quality, large seeded,
white mid rib forage sorghum with special nutritional grain
qualities and superior agronomics. Pearl is a medium
maturity variety that will reach soft dough stage 95-105 and
reach about 6-8 feet in height. The standability throughout
the season is excellent.

Special nutritional features: The higher protein white grain
of Pearl is nearly twice the size of normal forage sorghum
grain and makes a softer grain that can be kernel
processed. The combination of a kernel that softens during
fermentation and the ability to kernel process increases the
harvest window significantly. In addition, the crop can be
allowed to mature in the field to moisture levels that allow
vertical silo storage without seepage.

Agronomic features: Pearl was also bred for strong
sugarcane aphid tolerance and excellent foliar disease
tolerance, making it a strong contender in climates with
heavy aphid pressure. Pearl has strong seedling vigor and
like most forage sorghums, has strong drought tolerance
throughout the growing season making it ideal for acreage
that corn is less reliable.
